Santacon is a community event celebrating all things Santa Claus and the best parts of Christmas. The focus is on spontaneity and creativity, while having a good time and spreading cheer. Something like a Santapalooza or Santa Rampage, SantaCon incorporates a night of cheerful fun while friends, family and strangers gather together dressed in Santa garb to dance to the musical mixes of DJ Kaleido.
Santa Con began in 1994 as San Francisco’s Santarchy. Over the past 24 years, it’s grown into an annual tradition in its own right. New York City hosts the largest existing Santacon. There are, however over 300 similar events that will take place in over 40 countries all over the world. At these events, participants are encouraged to come fully costumed and share in the holiday festivities.
This is Santacon, so for the love of the Holidays, wear a Santa costume (or something Christmas-y)! Wear a traditional Santa suit or get crazy with it and create a variation, have fun with it! Get creative with your costume, make modifications! Pirate Santa, Super Santa, Gothic Santa, Biker Santa, Doctor Santa, Sugar Plum Fairy, Reindeer, Elf…you get the idea.
A donation of $5 minimum, as we are “Ho-Ho-Hoping” for charity, will be asked at the door. 100% of the proceeds will be donated to local food banks in Albuquerque.
The festivities kick off at 6pm. Naughty or Nice participants must wear costumes for the event.
Don’t forget to wear a mask!
