Bernalillo County Will Offer Online Program for Seniors in Spanish

TThe Office of Senior and and Social Services for Bernalillo County is sponsoring a new online program for Spanish speaking seniors who live in the county. “Remedios y recetas caseras” is a new free phone/online group for seniors 60 and over which begins Saturday, Jan. 9 and continues through April 24, 2021. The group will meet every Saturday from 2 to 2:30 p.m.  The sessions will be conducted entirely in Spanish with participants sharing and discussing favorite foods, recipes, home and traditional remedies. “Remedios y recetas caseras” is one of many Spanish language programs offered by Well Connected Español, a telephone and online community offering activities, education, friendly conversation, and an assortment of discussion and support groups. Bernalillo County Senior and Social Services provides health and quality of life initiatives for Bernalillo County residents to improve economic wellbeing, education, health, and family & community development. The department also addresses food insecurity, transportation barriers, and social isolation of seniors in the community. Senior lunches are available for pick up at five locations.
